Customers are always asking us what we recommend for a wideband kit. Well, we finally decided to answer that question once and for all.
For years we have used the original Innovate LC-1 wideband on our own shop car and it works great. There are so many advantages over everything else that it's hard to pick a place to start. And the LC-2 is a major upgrade in a number of ways.
Innovate wideband kits respond to changes in mixture considerably faster than any others using a process called DirectDigital technology (US Patent Number 6978655). But to avoid making this page any longer than it already is, here's a link to Innovate's application note on the subject. The quick summary is that this is FAST.
The Innovate LC-2 also includes a simple method for doing free air calibration so that you KNOW the system is providing an accurate reading at all times. Innovate recommends doing a free air calibration once every 10,000 miles of daily driving or about every race weekend under hard use. It's also recommended after a new sensor is installed and then again 3 months later. Is it absolutely necessary? No, probably not, but we like that the option to do so is available.
Contents: Each kit includes an LC-2 wideband controller, Bosch LSU4.2 wideband oxygen sensor, 8 foot-long sensor cable, bung/plug kit and a basic installation pamphlet. Optionally, you can also include a red or blue gauge to connect to one of the LC-2's analog outputs to display the measured A/F ratio in the dash somewhere.
