-All this talk about poor quality work is depressing.  So here's some pictures of good socket job to compare against.  We're not doing anything special here.  I just decided to take a picture of an ECU I happened to be working on today.  If the shop or friend you're asking to do work on your ECU can't say every one he does looks just like this, be worried.  If they actually say they sometimes destroy a chip getting it out, be VERY worried!!  If they ask what's a socket, run!!!+All this talk about poor quality work is depressing.  So here are some pictures of good work to compare against. If they ask what's a socket, run!!!

-They should ALL come out like this.  No chip should ever be damaged, no pin should be bent, no trace should be broken.  Nice, clean work using professional equipment.  Anything less is risking damage to your ECU.  This particular socket job took all of 20 minutes.  If your guy says it's going to take an hour using equipment that looks like he picked it up at Radio Shack on his way home...it's not a good sign.+They should ALL come out like this.  No chip should ever be damaged, no pin should be bent, no track should be broken.
