<h1>"Nitrous" Control Wiring</h1> <div class="level1"> <p> DSMLink nitrous controls provide a means of defining parameters that activate the fuel pressure regulator solenoid output on the ECU. This output is a switch to ground. That is to say when active, that ECU pin will be connected to ground. When not active, it floats. But that ground connection is *not* sufficient to directly drive a high pressure solenoid. You must use a relay and, preferably, a master arm switch between the ECU and the solenoids being driven if you're using large solenoids. Trying to drive the solenoid(s) directly from the ECU <b>will</b> result in damage to the ECU. </p> <p> Also, nitrous controls are by no means used solely for controlling nitrous kits. That was the original intention, but our users have been far more clever in how they use this feature in DSMLink. They have used it to control water injection, methanol, <a href="/wiki/doku.php?id=usenitrouscontrolsfordejontoolbovmod" class="wikilink1" title="usenitrouscontrolsfordejontoolbovmod">blow off valve bypass</a>, and probably a few other things we're not even aware of. So this page is going to describe the general approach to using the FPR solenoid output of the ECU to drive a larger solenoid through a relay. The rest is going to be up to you and your particular situation. </p> <p> Details on the internal functionality of the DSMLink Nitrous Controls can be found on the <a href="/wiki/doku.php?id=nitrouscontroldetails" class="wikilink1" title="nitrouscontroldetails">nitrous control details</a> page. </p> </div> <h1>Details</h1> <div class="level1"> <p> First, let's get the ECU pins out of the way. You can get a lot more information on the <a href="/wiki/doku.php?id=ecuwiringinformation" class="wikilink1" title="ecuwiringinformation">ECU wiring information</a> page, including pin location and wire colors as well. You'll want pin 57 on a 1G ECU and pin 3 on a 2G ECU. </p> <p> You'll probably use a standard ISO (Bosch) automotive relay.
