<h1>ECMLink's Output Control Wiring (formerly known as "Nitrous" Controls)</h1> <div class="level1"> <p> ECMLink's output controls provide a means of defining parameters that activate any one of a few solenoid outputs on the ECU. </p> <p> These outputs are all switches to ground. That is to say when active, that ECU pin will be connected to ground. When not active, it floats. </p> <p> But that ground connection is *not* sufficient to directly drive a high pressure solenoid. You must use a relay and, preferably, a master arm switch between the ECU and the solenoids being driven if you're using large solenoids. Trying to drive the solenoid(s) directly from the ECU <b>will</b> result in <a href="/wiki/doku.php?id=driver01" class="wikilink1" title="driver01">damage to the drivers</a> inside the ECU. </p> <p> ECMLink's output controls can be used for a variety of things. Our users have been far more clever in how they use this feature than we ever imagined. They have used it to control water injection, methanol, <a href="/wiki/doku.php?id=usenitrouscontrolsfordejontoolbovmod" class="wikilink1" title="usenitrouscontrolsfordejontoolbovmod">blow off valve bypass</a>, and probably a few other things we're not even aware of. </p> <p> So this page is going to describe the general approach to using solenoid outputs of the ECU to drive a larger solenoid through a relay. The rest is going to be up to you and your particular situation. </p> <p> Details on the internal functionality of ECMLink's output controls can be found on the <a href="/wiki/doku.php?id=nitrouscontroldetails" class="wikilink1" title="nitrouscontroldetails">nitrous control details</a> page. </p> </div> <h1>Details</h1> <div class="level1"> <p> First, let's get the ECU pins out of the way. You can get a lot more information on the <a href="/wiki/doku.php?id=ecuwiringinformation" class="wikilink1" title="ecuwiringinformation">ECU wiring information</a> page, including pin location and wire colors as well. </p> <p> For the fuel pressure solenoid output, you'll want pin 57 (white wire) on a 1G ECU and pin 3 (blue with red stripe) on a 2G ECU. </p> <p> For the EGR solenoid output, you'll want pin 53 (black with yellow stripe) on a 1G ECU and pin 6 (light green with red stripe) on a 2G ECU. </p> <p> You'll probably use a standard ISO (Bosch) automotive relay.
