USB/DB9 Serial Adapter Info

If your laptop has a native DB9 connector like the one shown below, great!

If it doesn't, then you have a USB port on your laptop instead and you need a USB to DB9 adapter to use the current DSMLink cables.

The problem (mainly for 1G guys) is that the UART in the 1G DSM ECU does not support a “standard” baud rate. So *many* USB/DB9 adapters do not work properly with the 1G DSM ECU. Almost all work fine with the 2G ECU, but even with this ECU there are some that do not work properly for some reason or other. So this page is intended to present the information collected over the years from our users to report which cables work and which do not.

For reference, the one that we use here for our own testing is the Keyspan model we show on our website.

64-bit versions: Note that all the information below is based on the 32-bit version of Windows. If you're running a 64-bit version of Windows, then it's entirely possible that you'll have other driver issues to deal with on top of those just covering the basic driver installation.
